Oh sure he may look good. And many of your friends and relatives might actually approve.
Seriously what’s not to like…
- He’s perfect
- He’s soft, but has just enough of a hard edge to him to keep him interesting
- He can go just about anywhere and is very versatile, so you don’t have to worry about him adapting
- He’s popular…everyone knows him and pretty much likes him. And the fact that he gets around, isn’t really a turn off because he’s just so sweet
But let me tell you the truth about this poser:
- He’s good while he’s with you, but he’s bad news for you
- He’ll cause you to be moody…when you’re with him great, but when he’s gone, you crash
- The more he’s around, the more you crave him, but he leaves you empty and searching for more
- You don’t gain anything meaningful from the relationship…it’s empty
So are you ready to meet this guy?…
Take a good long look at him. Burn the image into your mind so when you see him hanging around the grocery store, cafe or restaraunt you’ll run away before he gets into your blood stream. And be sure to share this with your friends and family. You don’t want them falling for this “wonder” guy.
Ok, so here’s his picture: click

Dear Writeableramblings:
Thanks for the comments.
I’m sorry to hear you have no will power. It’s common. The Bad Boy mystique is powerful. Maybe you could try not answering the door once in awhile and invite Mr Whole Grain over.
Warmest regards,
Dr Marks

Thanks for the reminder/laugh!
My little family doesn’t really do white stuff but I have suuuuuuuuch a hard time using wheat pasta. I’ve been excited to try it again and again but I’m always disappointed.
Can you recommend a good brand??
Also, cheetos and oreos are wheat, correct?
j/k :p

P.S.- A few months ago we were out of bread and Craig picked up a loaf (haha that sounds gross) at Walgreens late at night while getting diapers. It was white. I was grossed out and used only a piece the next day. It was so bleached/dyed that I swear it was actually a shade of white/blue. It sat in the cupboard for a very long time and never got moldy.
I don’t know what’s worse, moldy bread or white preservative bread that’s as blue as the day we let it in the door….

Yes, Jenn K-stein;
Oreos and cheetos are wholesome whole wheat foods. But if you want something super nutritious and filled with complex carbs and every imagineable vitamin and trace mineral stick with Twinkies and Ho Ho’s. They are chock full o’goodness!
As far as pasta goes, since I know you, Craig and little one do not have weight or blood sugar issues just go with a high quality semolina pasta like Barilla. Stay away from generic store brands.
Two more healthy pasta tips:
1. If a pasts takes a year (figuratively speaking) to turn al dente’ it is bad pasta
2. Make your pasta portions smaller than you are used to. Enough to fill a small salad or bread plate is fine. Try to avoid a heaping pile covering a dinner plate.
Bon apetite’ Jenn

What are your thoughts on Dream Fields pasta??? If you have not heard of it I hope you will look into it and share your thoughts! Also, thank you for your words of encouragement on my blog (101abc.wordpress.com) … now that they have me off of Glucophate due to my pregnancy I have to really really really be careful with carbs! I’m teaching myself more about Low GI foods and think that will be the best route for both me and the baby!

101abc,
I have checked out Dream Fields pasta…on your tip. Thank you. This certainly looks like a great pasta…it’s Semolina wheat, which is what I recommend, for nutrition and taste, but the low gycemic index is awesome. It’s getting easier than ever to live a fairly normal life with a low GI diet, it just takes some research and poking around. Thank you for the tip, I’ll share it with others.
You just keep noursihing your baby with good food, love and prayers.
Warmest regards,
Dr Barry Marks

Too funny! I love the analagies! It is so true that white flour is one of cross of our “modern” civilzations. I don’t even bring it into the house or I will use it for convenience. Too easy and soft. Thanks for the great comments on my blog! I do love doing it. Playing with food then writing about it is just up my alley.

You have an incredible gift and talent, please use it for good…warn people about that “guy.” Although on certain occasions it’s nice to have a mouth watering trophy dish by your side to make your friends giggle!
